BMI rehab system from Siyi Intelligence clinches iF and Red Dot honors

Yin said the coveted iF and Red Dot accolades came after the device had obtained a license on March 8 from the National Medical Products Administration, necessary for the firm to legally sell its products.

Siyi Intelligence (司羿智能), a Shanghai-based startup focused on building rehab robots, announced today that its brain-computer interface rehab robot had secured two prestigious awards: iF Design Award 2023 and Red Dot Award: Product Design 2023.

In a WeChat post, Siyi’s founder and CEO Gavin Yin Ganggang wrote that the winner is a product called Syrebo brain-computer interface rehab training and evaluation system.

It adopts non-invasive technologies to collect electroencephalogram signals of mobility-impaired patients and analyze their intentions.

The robot then guides the users to undergo a series of active and passive rehab training exercises by providing an assistive force when needed.

This is to stimulate the user’s desire to take active physiotherapy exercises, so as to reconstruct neural pathways damaged in a stroke, a process known as neuroplasticity.

The BMI rehab system caters to the rehabilitation of victims suffering from stroke, brain damage, spinal cord injury and hand injury.

Yin said the coveted iF and Red Dot accolades came after the device had obtained a license on March 8 from the National Medical Products Administration, necessary for the firm to legally sell its products.

This marked an important step for the Shanghai startup to enrich its product line.

Previously, Siyi Intelligence’s products mainly consist of wearable robots, such as a pneumatic robotic glove that combines flexible robotics and neuroscience, integrating hand rehab training, evaluation and clinical research.

It also has released a soft-bodied exoskeleton suit that the user can easily put on to generate an extra locomotion to assist with walking.

“The acquisition of these two awards suggests that Siyi’s brain-machine interface rehab robot has won international recognition,” said Yin.
