Once embattled Pudu Robotics back on its feet with fresh Series C4 funding

This signals recovering investor confidence in service robotics, especially in Pudu, after the company fell on hard times and was forced to slash up to a third of its staff last year due to monetization difficulties and a cash crunch.

Pudu Robotics (普渡科技), one of the largest delivery robot startups and unicorns in China, today announced a Series C4 round of funding worth hundreds of millions of yuan, Chinese media reported today.

This round, led solely by Accum Private Equity Co. Ltd, was the second fundraising event completed by Pudu in 2023 and came less than three months after the Series C3 round in February.

This signals recovering investor confidence in service robotics, especially in Pudu, after the company fell on hard times and was forced to slash up to a third of its staff last year due to monetization difficulties and a cash crunch.

After emerging from the depths of an existential crisis, Pudu seems to be having the wind in its sails again.

According to China Insights Consultancy, a market intelligence provider, Pudu is the world’s largest commercial service robot developer by shipment, with products being sold to as many as 60 countries and regions across the world.

Pudu said as of December last year its shipment of delivery and butler robots worldwide had totaled 56,000 and counting.
