PV, chip-focused AGV startup Expert Robotics closes angel funding round

Prior to Expert Robotics, its founder and CEO Xu Zhendong is a specialist in AGV, AMR, flexible manufacturing system (FMS) and manufacturing execution system (MES) with over 10 years of experience R&D and productization.

Chinese automated guided vehicle (AGV) manufacturer Expert Robotics (艾博特机器人) has closed an angel financing round for an undisclosed amount, backed solely by Z&Y Capital, Chinese media reported yesterday.

Founded in Changsha, capital of central China’s Hunan Province, Expert Robotics is dedicated to supplying AGV and smart factory solutions to clients in photovoltaic, lithium battery and semiconductor industries.

The firm is recognized as an exemplar of smart manufacturing by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) in the PV sector.

The core products of Expert Robotics comprise AGV robots, intelligent logistics control system and factory automation equipment.

Additionally, the company has rolled out a self-developed cloud platform tailored to smart plant, providing support for the digitalization and automation drive of niche segments.

Currently its products are adopted by leading PV cell makers JinkoSolar, JA Solar, Longi and Red Solar.

Prior to Expert Robotics, its founder and CEO Xu Zhendong is a specialist in AGV, AMR, flexible manufacturing system (FMS) and manufacturing execution system (MES) with over 10 years of experience R&D and productization.

He led and oversaw the independent planning and construction of the country’s first lights-out PV cell factory that went on to clinch honors from the MIIT.

“The mission of Expert Robotic is to help complete a shift for global energy and semiconductor industries and provide highly efficient one-stop unmanned smart factory solutions,” said Xu.

“China faces a period of tensions between lean management and productivity increases, in such areas as PV, lithium battery and semiconductor,” said Lin Haizhuo, founding partner and CEO of Z&Y Capital, the angel investor of the startup.

“We are optimistic about the leading position and technical expertise of Expert Robotics in building world-leading, full-stack, and one-stop solutions for smart factory applications in energy and semiconductor domains,” he noted.
