Xiaomi Group (小米集团) announced that its MI Home self-cleaning sweeping and mopping robot 2 is now up for grabs, with a starting price of 1,999 yuan (US$288).
According to the tech giant, the robot incorporates four functions including cleaning, vacuuming, mopping and scrubbing, freeing the users from having to wash the mop manually.
After the device is done sweeping a section of a room, it returns autonomously to the docking station for cleaning.
The robot adopts a double-mop structure that features coiled, thickened mops rotating at 180 rpm.
The mops also lift themselves to avoid soiling the floors as the robot makes its way back to the docking station.
The MI Home robot sweeper has a 5000 Pa suction, and can switch between four modes of suction, including quiet, standard, powerful and super-strong, catering to different needs of the user.
The dust case that comes with the robot has a capacity of 430mL. With a buckle release mechanism, it can be emptied by releasing the buckle.
In addition, the product has a built-in 4L water tank, making redundant the need to add water regularly.
When the tank is filled to the brim, the waste water alarm will alert the user with push notifications sent via the MI app.
Equipped with LDS laser navigation technologies, the robot sweeper scans the room with a 360° view, maps the environment promptly and plans its route, so as to increase efficiency and also avoid colliding into obstacles.
Like many Xiaomi IoT products, the robot can be activated remotely to perform cleaning tasks through the MI Home app.
Besides, the user can also book a cleaning session and set up no-go zones on the app.
It also connects with smart devices from Xiaomi, including the lock, air purifier and other IoT gizmos, as well as follows instructions from its AI-powered smart speaker.
Xiaomi has lots of competition to beat in the robot sweeper category, including Roborock (石头科技, 688169.SH), Ecovacs (科沃斯, 603486.SH) and Narwal (云鲸).
